Welcome to Everest Summiteer Iman Gurung Memorial Trust, Kathmandu, Nepal. ESIMT was officially registered under Chief District Office Gorkha in 2006 (2063 B.S.) in the memory of late Iman Gurung. Late Iman Gurung was born in the village of Laprak, in the southern part of Gorkha district. He was not only the first Lapraki to become involved in trekking tourism, but also the first person from the western region of Nepal to summit Mount Everest as well as from Gurung Community, as a part of the Nepali women's Everest expedition team of 1991. He was the Chief Instructor from Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). He was the founder of Nepal Mountaineering Instructor Association(NMIA) and Nepal National Mountain Guide Association(NNMGA). Tragically, he lost his life by an avalanche at Mt Kang Guru Himal, Nar Phu Valley on the 21st of October 2005 along with seven French mountaineers and ten other Nepali team members. With this big contribution of late Gurung, The youth of Laprak become so inspirational legacy to involve in trekking and mountaineering in the different designation. With his inspirtation, many young youth are taking the advantage as the opportunities for employment in the mountain areas and for the improvement of social conditions in the village continues today. To keep memory forever, we had established TRUST in the name of Late Iman Gurung as Everest Summiteer Iman Gurung Memorial Trust (ESIMT). The ESIMT is a non-profit, welfare-focu sed organization, whose aim is to continue the work of Iman Gurung by providing education and skills training to women and children so that they are able to lead financially independent lives.
